The Transition from Student to Professional: Field Practice on the Organ of San Juan Tepemasalco, Hidalgo

This article reports the activities and results obtained of a field trip internship focused on the research and conservation of the San Juan Tepemasalco,s historical pipe organ, Hidalgo, which took place from September to November 2008, within the Optional Seminar of Conservation and Restoration of Musical Instruments (STOCRIM) of the Escuela Nacional de Conservación, Restauración y Museografía (ENCRyM); Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH). On the basis of personal account about the experience, this paper analyses the role of the conservation field trip internship as the perfect academic training for a student becoming a professional.
