Abstract

This paper provides an overview of the “Proyecto de Renovation  Museográfica (Museographic Renovation Project)” of the textile collection currently underway at the Museu Casa Rui Barbosa (Rui Barbosa’s Home-Museum ), describing the project rationale and primary approaches of the research methodology, in order to demonstrate how decorative textiles can be articulated into the museography for the purpose of elucidating economic and social aspects of the historical context of these artefacts´ production.

Author Biography

Luz García Neira, Universidade Anhembi Morumbi, Brasil

Doctora en arquitectura y urbanismo (Universidade de São Paulo USP, Brasil), quien ha desarrollado investigación sobre historia técnica de los textiles en Brasil a partir de la conexión entre industria, cultura y educación en diseño; cuenta con diversos trabajos publicados sobre el tema tanto en Brasil como en el extranjero. De 2010 a 2012, fue becaria del Museu Casa de Rui Barbosa, Río de Janeiro (Brasil). En la actualidad es profesora de la Universidade Anhembi Morumbi UAM- Sao Paolo (Brasil), y se dedica a las asignaturas de Proyecto y Diseño Textil. Es miembro profesional del Textile Society of America TSA (EUA)  y asociada del Comité Nacional de Conservación Textil CNCT (Chile).
